The Galaxy SmartTag 2 has appeared on the Bluetooth SIG website revealing that the new tracking device uses Bluetooth 5.3.
Bluetooth 5.3 should help the tracker last longer than its predecessor.

Does anyone know whether the SmartTag are worthwhile?
I'd say just get AirTags and a cheap iPad and be done with it. IIRC, @ladfrombrad@lemdro.id did something similar a while ago.
I actually bought a Chipolo tag but, the cheapo iPad 2 I got wasn't compatible and handed the tag off to someone with a newer iPhone to use it with.
