What does this have to do with atheism?
Just like in the US, most of the homophobia in Africa is due to Christianity.
Also due to Islam. They're about 50% to 50%.
Islam is on a whole new level as homosexuality is punishable by death and is implemented by several Islamic countries.
This is not limited to Islam though. It is also punishable by death in for example Uganda, which has a 85% Christian population.
