Unless you speak Japanese, dubs are better because otherwise you miss out on vocal cues that you, a non-japanese speaker, can't understand and that text can only partially convey
Maybe if you're totally new to anime but if you watched a few animes this is not a problem at all.
I've watched plenty of animes, the languages aren't so different that it's impossible to get used to, but as an English speaker you'll always have an easier time parsing English words
I'm not a native english speaker which is probably why I don't really care that much about not hearing stuff in english.
