before people criticize me I am not using my main account because I do not feel safe bringing up these issues there, as these people and issues still are not dealt with. I do not want to put myself in danger, I will not be engaging in or attempting to post polls or votes here.
I would like to start by saying that I've noticed a lot of bad faith or spammy communities pop-up recently. The user is dramaticcat many of the communities break rules 1 and 2, maybe even rule 3 (an example of one such community is !kiwifarms@sh.itjust.works) as they are purely dedicated to hatred, trolling, and possibly even spam.
Also a small handful of users have also been making threats or calls to violence and while these have been moderated nicely moderators and external instance admins the admins of this instance haven't done anything about this. This is worrying as admins are supposed to enforce the instance rules and remove disruptive users and communities who are in violation of said rules but the admins of Sh.itjust.works have not been doing that. This is a problem because it means that any malicious actor could join at any time and wreak havok on this instance just like Exploding-heads did on another unmoderated instance known as rammy.site way back when.
We obviously know how that went.
It's important that we discuss this problem now while we might have a chance of contacting the admins rather than later when the damage has been done.
Am I missing something? The community you linked only has one post.
I've noticed the user you've mentioned reposting some of my greentext posts to similar communities on different instances (and vis versa), but that seems harmless. Maybe even a needed service.
Hate to say it, linking to a community with nothing in it and providing no other examples makes this whole thing look a little like a big meta troll where you’re the one who made the community with an alt and you’re trying to start drama for the lols.
Now, I’m not saying that that is the case. I’m saying I have no idea what’s going on here and everything seems off in someway.
General advice for dealing with issues and drama on social media: receipts. Links and screenshots. You can’t have too many. Let people see the issue for themselves and make it as easy as possible for them to see it by providing a clear and thorough outline full of said links and screenshots.
Then be as clear as you can about what rule or value you think is being breached, what reasonable action you think should be taken, and then why the above applies the user/community in question.
"I hope you get stoned by your terrorist friends for supporting gays... Fuck you."
"Nukes. That's how."
"Fuck that, they need to remove all."
"Can you stop spamming, if you want to kill yourself thats your choice and right to do, but please dont annoy others with it, bridges are a great choice, or maybe a noose if you know how to tie knots, dont use drugs they often fail and cause long therm problems, if you are in the US a gun is of course also a option. Have a nice day and maybe just eat a Cookie and rethink before making a final choice."
"Ich rate zu groĂźzĂĽgigem Konsum von Cyanid."
We must have completely different definitions of what is considered toxic or violent then. Blocking doesn't fix that, it's what you do for people that hurt youw feewings, not for people who are dangerous, that's why I'm reaching out. But hey you just tell people to block because its standard fucking procedure on Lemmy and probably elsewhere to assume that problems aren't real and that everyone are just special little fucking snowflakes who should cover their ears and close their eyes.
I hear you. Wasn’t suggesting your claims have no basis.
Just talking about available courses of action.
Lax moderation seems to be a general problem across the Fedi, at least for many people. Given that it’s a community based system (at the moment) more community based moderation may be a necessary behaviour on the Fedi, and one which we need to learn how to do. It was in that spirit that I was talking about available courses of action. FWIW, reaching out for the sake of the others is obviously laudable IMO.
These were Already actioned by the subs respectively, you can see them in the modlog if you search his username, he also had a few others which disappeared or just weren't there and couldn't find them on the modlog, which I guess he deleted, I don't remember it verbatim though so I can't quote it but more stuff encouraging massacring people or blowing them up.
