I don’t get the downvotes, are we (US) not arming Israel?

I would guess a combination of two things:
- People who want to defend Israel.
- People who don't want to give Israel guns, misreading the comment as implying we should be.
i.e confusion from both sides that causes downvotes.
Just a guess, though.
