I get what it's trying to say now, AFTER reading the article. If 2 people are in a room together, and you describe it like the headline does, attack becomes implicitly physical. Knowing this "justice" system, they'd just fine him and add one extra deputy to the court room, when we all saw what happened to Mr Hops when he assaulted a judge... frigging murder charges almost.
Which sucks because it's a treadmill from literal/physical to figurative/verbal. Today we have "slams" and "attacks", I know I've already seen worse than that. Tomorrow it might be "punches", "kicks", "shoots", "stabs", I wouldn't put it past clickbait journalism to get there one day. We're gonna see headlines like "Man PHYSICALLY stabs his uncle after getting SLAMMED"
