Many people are hesitant to identify as atheists because of the social stigma they may face, making it hard to pinpoint connections and differences among this group.
not explicitly? Atheism is a root derived term. Theism, or theists, are religious movements/people in that order. Theology is the study of religion, etc... Atheism is just someone who isn't a theist, it's just a generic term. You can do this with everything. Political, apolitical, social, asocial, etc...
for one thing, that's literally not why it's structured like that. It's structured like that because of how the english language works. Take that up with big language, not big religion.
It'd be like calling the americans (the colonizers, not the natives) anatives. Not like calling the natives "notwhites" Though im sure you would agree with me there, considering how that went down. You are literally just pulling this out of your ass.
I mean you really don't seem to understand how these words are supposed to work. Theism is literally defined as "caring about religion" Atheism is literally just the opposite, not caring about it. Are you suggesting that theists should be offended at being called "theistic" Yes i realize my dipicition of theism here is not the best, but fight me about it.
This is like complaining about dehydration being the term for people who "havent consumed enough water" because it was created by the rich elities who can drink enough water. It's literally just language. Why is this such a big pain point for you? I literally do not understand why.
A-stamp collector. I'm not really interested in stamp collecting, but that doesn't mean my whole Identity is anti stamp or even thinking about stamps very often unless some idiot legislates that I can't get an appendectomy because their formal organization of stamp collectors says it's against their personal beliefs counter to clinical medical advice.
Even agreeing with that I am pretty anti all that religious bullshit these days so I’ll often go by atheist, but you’re damn right it isn’t the whole of my identity or that of anyone else who isn’t religious.
Let’s get to the point where we categorize people by humanist, individualist, tribalist, or cultist dipshit and see how they all like being called a-rationals
