Showing just how popular the Steam Deck is, NVIDIA are officially making it easier to get their cloud gaming service GeForce NOW on Steam Deck.
GeForce Now is a game streaming service. It was previously possible to use it on deck, but Nvidia is making it much easier to install and get set up. They also recently improved gamepad navigation of their service.
To install, go to their install page in desktop mode and scroll down to the steam deck option. Download and run the script.
The advantage of streaming services like this is getting great performance on lower power devices, and minimal battery usage.
Instead of improving their shitty cloud subscription BS, they should improve their drivers or just fully open source them so the community can work on it ffs
No, that's not how it works. They make lots of money from their cloud gaming BS, more supported platforms means more potential users, which means more money. Proper GPU drivers for Linux wouldn't make them much money, but take some time (and thus money) to develop.
Proper GPU drivers for Linux wouldn’t make them much money …
No, that’s not how it works.
NVIDIA has been cranking out Unix drivers for well over decade (15 years maybe?). Well before cloud gaming became a thing. Well before anyone else. They do this because they make a ton of money ( more-so lately ) on headless servers running NVIDIA hardware.
Now, what we want ( and have slowly been getting ) is better support for the Linux Desktop.
