Been around long enough nothing is surprising, plus a lot of it is cyclical. As in not much changes and similar things were happening in the late oughts as they are now.. but it has gotten worse. Especially with gamersTM having no historical memory nor vote with their wallets, lots of gamersTM enjoy their slop and so the cycle continues lol
One of the things I appreciate most about James Steph is that they actually remember stuff that happened five, ten, fifteen years ago. Love knowing I'm not literally the only dork with brainspace dedicated to gamer history!
One of the few that will remind people of the reality of it, not have some revisionist history by some content creator who is repeating things second hand as it were.. (often with a factually incorrect retelling)
I miss when youtube was some people going into long form discussion in their basement over some random game rather than the over produced say nothing videos you tend to get a dime a dozen now.. I don't care about the high production, I'm more interested in your takes and some history on the game and that individuals history with said game. The amount of videos where they rhyme off some wikipedia information and such then watch as they do a playthrough is very prevalent..
You've seen my feed I have over 800 channels.. that have been filtered for years (rss feeds so I don't ever have to login)
But I've become more annoyed over time with people making videos that say very little and just show a playthrough.. I need more than that.. thankfully there are some top quality video creators still but you have to dig for them
