I think I read on lemmy.ml that capitalists love UBI because it gives consumers money to spend, money that trickles up. Is there any truth to that and if so what is the conclusion there? I don't think society benefits from people suffering and starving... It's obvious that the people in power don't want to solve problems for everyone else, at least in the US.
- The fear is that UBI will be used as an excuse to get rid of other social programs.
- There's a fear that the capitalists will price gouge and take us right back to where we started.
