Is there no setting for Safari on iPad to auto focus the URL bar when creating a new tab?

If there is please tell me where! And if not: Apple why?!

You mean the iPad standalone and purely touch interface or with attached keyboard and mouse? Pretty sure that - with physical keyboard - Cmd+T opens a tab with focus on address bar, but I don’t have my iPad with me right now to test this
- I mean without a keyboard attached.
