I'm trying to get a friend to leave Twitter for the Fediverse and he wants to get all sorts of science & technology news...

@rasterweb@mastodon.social I think instead of telling him people to follow, start with telling him hashtags to follow. The #science tag gets 1.8k posts/week it seems, #tech gets about 800, same with #technology. That will fill his timeline with science and technology posts and he can follow the people who show up there to get their posts they forget to tag. (and the people responding). That will suggest adjacent tags as well.
