Head of controversial US-backed Gaza aid group resigns, citing concerns over independence and impartiality | CNN

US military veteran Jake Wood has quit as GHF’s executive director after just a matter of weeks at the organization, publicly launched by the US in early May.

“I am proud of the work I oversaw, including developing a pragmatic plan that could feed hungry people, address security concerns about diversion, and complement the work of longstanding NGOs in Gaza,” said Wood in a statement.

“However, it is clear that it is not possible to implement this plan while also strictly adhering to the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence, which I will not abandon,” he added.

The UN warned that the fact the initial sites were only in southern and central Gaza could be seen as encouraging Israel’s publicly stated goal of forcing “the entire Gazan population” out of northern Gaza, as Defense Minister Israel Katz put it earlier this month.

  As opposed to who? The upstanding global citizens who bombed Vietnamese peasants back to the stone age because they couldn't accept Vietnam having self-determination? The emissaries of peace and understanding who blew up a bunch of weddings in Pakistan and Afghanistan and patted themselves on the back for fighting terrorism? Or is it the defenders of international justice and freedom who rained death and destruction on Yemenis for daring to oppose genocide?
  Soldiers who participated in the Iraq war should be called veterans, because they're the perfect illustration of what a US veteran is: Someone who actively contributed to the US war machine's bringing death, destruction and oppression to millions of innocent people. Being a veteran should be a mark of shame, not a badge of honor.
  
  The word veteran was always having a positive connotation. We don't need to always use a single word to describe something. I just simply say a soldier who participated in illegal war or in army knowing for terrorism

  My point is that the idea that being a veteran is a good thing is fundamentally wrong. If you filter out veterans who participated in immoral conflicts from your definition of "veteran", then you'll only have a handful of people remaining, because all major US conflicts in the past 25 years were immoral.
  
  I agree with you but for most people veteran is a noble world. So i prefer to use clear negative words
