He loves wearing clothes and usually behaves once we put a sweater on him. We wanted to mix it up with his little jacket. My boyfriend wants to add some little studs to make it more punk

Definitely stud it, and throw some patches on that bad boy. I've seen some great patches with dog puns made to look like classic punk band logos.
I also dropped in to say... I was just sewing up a battle vest of my own this evening so it's timely.
