German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has compared a far-right plan to deport migrants to Nazi racial ideology, calling it "an attack on our democracy." He has welcomed planned protests against right-wing extremism this weekend.
Doesn't mean anything because all these protests are in the big cities in West Germany, AFD's base is in East Germany and the less Urbanized areas. As long as the main parties keep ignoring the issues with immigration, AFD is going to continue to surge.
Again, it doesn't matter. You can see in the poll data where and why AFD is on the rise. The reason why AFD is surging is because they're the only ones who talk about immigration. There's literally no alternative to them. The mainstream parties ignore the problems and pretend they don't exist, they don't provide alternate, more sane solutions. These protests can continue until the next election day, AFD will still maintain its influence if nothing changes.
Except AFD is not providing any solution to immigration what so ever. The reason AFD is on the rise, is that people a caught up in informational bubbles, which are the greatest gift to populist since the invention of print and video.
