US literally did the opposite by only shooting down drones and missiles after leaving Iranian territory.
USA did that specifically to ensure there would be no risk of a major Israeli target being destroyed, because any significant damage on Israeli soil by Iranian weapons would have inevitably led to an Israeli escalation with another counterattack, leading to open war.
USA is NOT going to attack Iran (not with Biden in charge, at least, Trump might try a second time if he gets the chance).
Israel has multiple parties who want to attack Iran and multiple who want to avoid war. That's why USA got involved, to pressure those who want to attack Iran to stand down, working together with the ones who want to avoid it.
