Wow what an intriguing coat. Like an averaged out mackerel tabby. Looks really soft, too.
It's called a ticked tabby pattern! My last kitty had it, as well. Each individual hair is striped!
He's definitely the softest cat I've ever known. When I adopted him from the Human Society his breed was listed as Abyssinian/Tabby.
