I picture the chicken coming back at the most inopportune times and the players getting increasingly numb to brutally offing it in the quickest way possible.

How long before a swarm of undead cuckoos ala Zelda comes at them?
Nah, one is enough to ruin their stealth... well, it was, until they cut its vocal cords and kept him alive to keep him from getting then back XD
