Some Republicans have been defensive that the party has a strong anti-democratic bent. But the state GOP convention embraced it, writes columnist Danny Westneat.
Because the power structure is set up in a manner that best represents those who donate the most to the largest political parties, and if people voted for what they actually wanted, this spoils the vote.
US democracy is a sham, both the Democrats and Republicans serve their wealthy donors, and field candidates are dedicated to that front.
You're arguing that the system isn't perfect, not that it isn't a democracy. Not interested in being dragged off point by someone not arguing in good faith.
Could you explain how I am, in your view, acting in bad-faith? What constitutes that claim?
The question was whether we're a democracy not how flawed it is, and it is certainly flawed. You won't even admit we are a democracy, while no legitimate political scientist would say otherwise, and you keep asking leading questions to drive home your point.
It's clear your goal is to shit on America rather than have a meaningful conversation, and as I said I'm not interested.

For clarity, the original quote we are working off of is:
it also means any form of government where the ultimate power lies in the hands of the people.
This is not a question of whether or not the US can be considered a democracy at all, but if the Ultimate Power lies in the hands of the people. I would say America is indeed a Liberal Democracy, you put words in my mouth. I absolutely can "admit" America is a Liberal Democracy, while at the same time saying that the Ultimate Power does not lie in the hands of the people.
Additionally, struggling to answer my questions doesn't make them "leading."
It's clear your goal is to shit on America rather than have a meaningful conversation, and as I said I'm not interested.
I can shit on America while making my points. The fact that I am generally anti-America does not mean I do not have valid points, it just means the points I have naturally lead to a negative outlook on America.
Given that we have proven your willingness to make up my position for me and avoid actually engaging with any of my points, it's pretty clear that if you aren't being bad-faith, you don't actually have any counterpoints.
