Since 2016, plug-in hybrids and range-extended cars have enjoyed the same benefits as electric cars in Hungary. That will change on 1 September 2024. From then on, only fully electric and emission-free vehicles will receive a green licence plate.

What the fuck are BEV, PHEV and REEV?
- PHEV = Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicle
- BEV = Battery Electric Vehicle
- REEV = Range Extended Electric Vehicle - This can be a fuel powered generator that adds energy back to the battery.
Battery Electric Vehicle, Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicle, and the one I didn't know and had to look up.
Range extended electric vehicle (REEV) A battery-powered electric car with a smaller combustion engine that charges the traction battery through a generator. REEVs are different from plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) because REEVs have a larger battery and the engine only generates electricity to charge the battery.
They're acronyms.
