Mutating from going too fast is a better origin than an immortal mysterious child from a mysterious universe that forgot all their memories of said origin.
Maybe he thought he was creating a blank slate for others to fill in, but wound up leaving us a with Swiss cheese plot.
Which is a shame because there was a crumb of goodness. The space cops plot with the future doctor trying her best to be retired was such a unique idea.

Oh, just the usual retcon of established lore that happens every decade or so. Only this round was very poorly written despite how much I enjoyed the portrayal of The Doctor by Jodie Whittaker.
