India banned a Chinese app four years ago. Government agencies are still using it

CamScanner was one of 59 Chinese apps the Indian government banned in 2020, amid a border conflict with China.

They blocked it for a pure political reason, not for a security issue

This said, it's stupid to use an ad-infested closed source app that probably exfiltrates your data for ai training when there's a very good foss alternative
- Is there an easy list of recommded foss alternatives to apps someone has put together? It would be awesome if someone simply made something where you type in the name of an existing app on your phone and it listed the best rated foss alternative/gave a brief summary of its pros.
  
  Unfortunately, there are zillions, all out-of-date.
  
  My current method for finding things that are good is..
  
  after searching for such an app with FLOSS, then with FOSS as keywords,
  
  then I go to github, & search
  
  awesome document scanner
  
  or
  
  awesome OCR
  
  e.g. to find what there might be in the domain..
  
  It became normal, a few years ago, for people to temporarily curate Awesome...
  
  lists for each programming-language, to help new-programmers bypass the crud,
  
  & .. thankfully .. some people are doing that for apps, now, too..

Ban them for the general public. Block them.

But when its come to the government , use VPN or the so called politicians have another firewall compared to general public.
