New Moderator Needed, preferably from North, Central, or South America
The preference of locale is to cover global time zones to fit lemmy world's guidelines for moderators. I'm in Spain, Siyah is from Pakistan. The history community is growing to the tune of 100 new subscribers per month, so I, as the head moderator, am responsible for making certain all bases are covered for "large communities number undefined" under lemmy world's ever evolving guidelines for mods. It's an easy gig, as I've said before. Nothing too strenuous. You would need to familiarize yourself with the community rules (not hard) and the lemmy world Code of Conduct I'm always available to consult with if you have a question when in doubt about historical accuracy / inaccuracy. I can't say enough about how much of an easy gig moderating this community is. It's also fun because you discover new things about the past you never knew about before with every post from community subscribers. There is activity, and it's usually high quality activity, whether it be posting or commenting. If you happen to live in Antarctica, you would really be helpful here, because then the time zones would all be covered!
Hello, I'm an emperor penguing from Antarctica and would love to be a moderator. I don't have any formal education on human's history but I joined this community to learn! In addition, I could also provide an interesting inter-species point of view on future conversations.
haha! I had no idea penguins were learning how to use computers and how the English language works. If you're alive, a human being with an internet connection, and are awake when Americans are normally awake, then you're a moderator here. So, please tell me in all seriousness, do you live in the Americas and have a pulse? That's all we need here for you to be a moderator. If you turn out to be a dud I can just undo it all. No worries! I won't even have to do that, anyway, most mods disappear from lemmy as soon as they have spam created communities.
Jokes aside, I'm sorry my friend, but I don't live in the Americas. I do have a pulse but I live in the UK. I appreciate you being cool about the whole joke though :) and I agree that some mods disappear right after creating a community. Lord knows how many communities I've joined that had been sadly abandoned in the meantime, so I think it's great you're trying your best to keep this one alive and I wish you the best of luck with it! (I’d imagine you'll get more replies as the people in North/Central/South America wake up)
You're still a mod here. I already got my "preferable mod" by time zone and now you're here. You know, Portugal is right next door to me and is in the same time zone as you. Not in the same time zone as me thanks to Adolph Hitler and Francisco Franco. Your presence allows me to sleep an hour extra. Not that that matters, the more mods the merrier is my perspective. I've seen how you navigate around here and you're great. I've already made you a mod. You haven't deleted yourself, so I guess you're here to stay! Siyah and I plus that Canadian guy Zoidsberg thank you for helping us out. You're more than welcome to stay here and moderate.
Hahaha sleeping an extra hour is very relatable. Thank you for the job then! I’ll make sure to familiarise myself with the code of conduct and happy to be on board with all you guys
Hello, Welcome to the team. I'm the other moderator, " SiyahGuraag=Black Raven". Although, Our Community is small, we'd love the help.
Thanks for joining and Welcome.
You're very welcome. To give you some advice from my own experience here, which hasn't been much time, on the very rare occasion I've had to delete something, it's usually because of The Code of Conduct. Anyway, if you ever feel in doubt, I'm always available to consult with. You won't need to, though. It's totally easy. Easiest job I've ever had.
Great to know! Most users here seem very friendly now so I hope I won't need it like you said. And thank you for your availability foe any doubt :) Have you been a mod before?
I've never moderated before, no. It's not hard to learn how to do it. You just read the rules and make sure people stick to them and that's about it. I've learned it's just about paying attention to what's happening. I just check the community throughout the day and make sure everything is on the up and up.
Sounds straightforward enough then! Thanks for the introduction. I too will follow your advice and check throughout the day, that way the workload will be smaller for all of us here, and we can all have a great time
