I'm going to take a wild guess and say this bill doesn't do the same for CNC machines despite those being literally how you make actual guns. Fucking NY liberals.
Don't take my mill from me! :'(
A Shapeoko is only a few hundred dollars more than a Bambu X1C and it makes functional weapons that don't jam. This does nothing to prevent people making guns in garages.
Shapeoko
I can't believe you've gone and mentioned something cool and expensive for me to hyperfixate on as a new hobby.
Never even heard of that now I'm going to look it up and never be able to afford one but want it anyway 🥰
That router ain’t cutting steel for those of you thinking it might. But if a gun can be 3d printed it can be routed from plastic too. I wouldn’t wanna shoot any gun made of plastic anyway though
Gun control policies being made by people who have never shot a gun, classic liberalism
The Bill is 387 words long. It provides a definition:
"THREE-DIMENSIONAL PRINTER" MEANS A COMPUTER OR COMPUTER-DRIVEN MACHINE OR DEVICE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A THREE-DIMENSIONAL OBJECT FROM A DIGITAL MODEL.
A random google search provides the following definition:
Computer numerical control (CNC) is a manufacturing method that automates the control, movement and precision of machine tools through the use of preprogrammed computer software, which is embedded inside the tools.
I agree the bill is stupid. It’s equally stupid to make this a conservative vs liberal issue. This is a ruling class vs subservient class issue.
Stop playing into artificial distinctions designed to fracture the power of the many. Be better.
I'm a communist. This bill is pushed by liberals, specifically the Democrat-flavored liberals rather than the Republican-flavored liberals. Both parties are capitalist and fall under the umbrella of liberalism as it is classically defined, regardless of whatever that term might mean in American discourse.

He isn't. We're communists here.
Many consumer 3D printers, especially well-known ones like RepRap's, or Prusa or Voron, are open-source designs made to be assembled from general-purpose pieces. Many people already make them in this way. Whoever came up with this didn't do a basic background check on the tech...
The whole thing is fear mongering. The libs genuinely believe you can make a fully automatic AK-47 in .50 caliber ("Just upscale the barrel lol") out of resin.
Whoever came up with this didn't do a basic background check on the tech...
The law was likely requested by a billionaire. Practicality doesn't matter as much when it's a direct request
NY introduces bill to require background checks for any materials capable of creating
Doos and hickeys al Walgreens behind locm and key
So background checks for all 3d printers in practice.
China is going to be sending a colony ship to Alpha Centauri while the United States outlaws screwdrivers and books which teach you how to make screwdrivers.
It's just like the California micro-stamp laws, where technically the technology exists, but in practice it just restricts everything.
We only pulled an Abe once and they’re still so scared by Fallout-like weapons.
Every time I see mentions of Abe I think of another Abe because the parallels are striking. No pun intended.
Well, then... here take this, if you need one too, comrade.
drone-dropping lead weights still legal, acme contraptions stay winning
clowns
"Firearms" specifically, huh? Guess zipguns are fine lol
I wonder if this works in reverse? If banned from owning firearms = banned from owning 3d printers,
then
having a 3d printer should be an automatic firearm license, yes? of course not because logic don't government
Fine, I'll just 3D print swords then.
You can print drones, does that make people with cheap printers capable of warfare? Lmao Amerikkka is cooked
