Community made 196 alternative - !onehundredninetysix@lemmy.blahaj.zone
For those who don't want to follow the existing 196 community move, some community members have made an alternative community on blahaj.zone
I am not directly involved in the new community, but I'm happy to share it for those looking for a blahaj based alternative.
Is there a reason we can’t just add a new mod team to the old 196?
I suppose that may feel a little “takeover”y by its them that decided to move.
Ada prefers not to jump in, to avoid power tripping. That's respectable, but in the meantime we are working on !onehundredninetysix@lemmy.blahaj.zone
That's not powertripping, that's stepping in for the good of the community. This community would benefit to stay in !196@lemmy.blahaj.zone and if @ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone removes them and reappoints someone else who shares the same passion for this community that isn't powetripping, it's doing the right thing.

Agreed. It's what would be best for us. Not moving to another community with a horrendous name, but staying here while they are removed and move on to lemmy.world.
Yeah entirely agree. I don't get why the current mods can't simply be removed since they don't intend to maintain the sub? Sublemmys can't really move, you can just create a new one elsewhere as everyone is welcome to do, but by definition it can't be the "same community"

The easiest way to recruit mods would probably to post a pinned post about that
I very much don't want to get involved in day to day moderating of the community, but I do watch over all reports that come through for blahaj communities, and I will deal with the spammers/bigots etc as well.
I would definitely prefer oneninesix. I don't know how many people type their URLs manually, but I do, and onehundredninetysix is just a tad too long. If you switch, I will follow.
It's only been a few hours, I'm sure we'd follow if you made a new community under that name.
Thank You! I found it absolutely hilarious that their 'complaints' were that you dared to enforce site-wide rules on their magazine/community. Thank you for all that you do.

Also, on a personal note, having a bit more insight in to what was going on behind the scenes, I just wanted to thank you for the extra moderating you were doing over on 196, which their mod team has been open about undoing. Definitely feel safer in your hands than I do in theirs (though really hope for your sake you won't have to step in as much anymore).
Can you change the display name to something like "196 (archive)" so it's easier to distinguish them?

I think we should just keep the original !196@lemmy.blahaj.zone and pass control of this one on to the mods of the other one. If the existing mod team wants to leave that's their choice but we shouldn't end up losing this great community just because they want to migrate. This is our community.
