Man, if the new Assassin's Creed isn't a banger Ubisoft is cooked. They've had nothing but flops for the past 4 years or so. Even the newer Far Cry games kinda flopped.
FC5 was very interesting, but I definitely lost interest after that.
5 was cool but I think I got whiplash from how hard the ludo narrative dissonance hit me. At this point I don't even think they realize why FC3 was so well received (which a snarky french games journalist was already joking about when it came out)
I think 5 is my overall favorite from the series but 4 is probably the most "far cry" of all the far cry games. I really did not enjoy New Dawn or 6 at all. I actually had to force myself to finish 6. I kept starting it and losing interest after like an hour. I went back and played 4 and 5 again after I beat 6 just because I felt like I needed to wash out the bad taste 6 had left in my mouth.
I liked New Dawn more than I thought I would, played coop.
Really? The coop was the most frustrating part. Only the host can get the super powers? You gotta play the whole game basically twice on both people's saves in order for everyone to have super powers. That's just lame and poorly designed coop.
It didn't bother me I was just sightseeing old FC5 locations and shooting bad guys.
4 is what got me into the series! I agree it fit most with the previous titles. Good on you for finishing the game. I played a couple hours and never opened it again.
You didn't miss out on much. I think 3,4 and 5 is the perfect "trilogy" of far cry games. I love 2 and blood dragon, but they just aren't the same as those 3 strong games.
I thought far cry 6 was good.
Was 6 the only Far Cry game you've played? Because I've played all the far cry games and 6 is one of my lowest ranked games from the series personally. I'm curious why you liked 6.
It was a large open map rpg with a well polished UI. Decent story, cool aesthetics. Wasn't groundbreaking awesomeness, but we can't all be FNV. What's not to love?
Did you play any of the other far cry titles or was that your first? Because in a vacuum I could see 6 being fun, but when you go into 6 expecting a game like the other far cry titles it really fell short.
No other far cry titles
That's makes a ton of sense then. Well I would highly recommend 3, 4 and 5 as well, but those games might end up tainting your memory of 6. Or who knows maybe playing 6 first will make you not really like the other ones.
If you were only going to play one other far cry game I would recommend 5 as it's the most recent title while also still feeling like a "proper" far cry game.
Far cry went down hill after blood dragon. It was already repeat of 3 but the theme carried hard but also was lower priced standalone...
Everything after? No thanks.
Really? 4 is pretty much regarded as the best one by most fer cry people.
When I made a survey on the far cry subreddit the top 3 games were 5, 4 and 3 was in third place lol.
You ever try that primal one?
I played it for an hour at a friend's house. I hated it.
For a game with no guns the melee system is going to get a lot of use. It's incredibly basic and boring. The ranges weapons didn't appeal to me.
I never bought it for myself or played itore than that.
