I don't think it's healthy to tell people not to have therapy for any problem in the realm of mental health. Now I'm not saying you should stick with a provider that tries to de-legitimize your journey.
However, the number one reason people end up regretting their transition is because of the rejection they get from family members. Having a therapist that can help you learn how to deal with these types of feelings of rejection from people who are supposed to be supporting you is an important part of a successful transition.
