Square Enix will be revisiting Chrono Trigger in several projects in 2025 to mark game's 30th anniversary
Square Enix have revealed that they will be launching various Chrono Trigger projects this year that "go beyond the game world."

Honestly my feelings are.. If they really really were serious... They should have had it released today on the anniversary date or at least some kind of trailer.
This just feels like stalling so gaming journalists can't criticize square enix to say that Chrono Trigger has been "forgotten"

Hopefully they will finally announce some kind of a proper remake. I thought the dragon quest xi engine would have been perfect for it, but I would settle for one of those hd2d things.

Same. Chrono Trigger doesn't need a remake, it's perfect as it is. Current squareenix would just add micro transactions, pre order bonuses and deluxe editions to it.

Settle? I'd much prefer these older pixel 2d games in that setting over a full 3d remake.
Didn't they remaster this thing on like 5 different systems?
3 times as actually “remastered” others were just ports. PS1, which got anime cutscenes, 3DS or DS I forget, which got added content, and most recently on PC which was just basically a port of the mobile port of the 3DS version but it did have a filter for pixel smoothing and I forget what else.
We also did get 2 albums. The brink of time jazz album and to far away times anniversary album.
They've done ports like the mobile one that got turned into the steam one, (Which was disparaged due to quality, then significantly improved), but nothing like a ff7 remake or hd2d remaster like dq3.

Maybe another album like brink or time, or they’ll rerelease the anime. Lol. Honestly idk. I am stoked for whatever it is but I doubt we get a bunch of new (full) games or movies or etc. in the setting.
I would be down for a dirge of Cerberus type attempt at something new following Janus after he was thrown back in time into becoming magus, or following Glenn & Cyrus chasing after magus pre-frogenning. Doubt we get anything like that tho.
Album seems likely considering how active Mitsuda has been on that with Xenogears lately.
I'd be all over an HD 2D remake as long as they keep it faithful, but I'm somewhat wary of anything else current day SE might do.
