Here are three Pixel 8 features that didn't make the cut
The Pixel 8 series adds a lot of new software features, but not every feature Google planned to add made it in. Here's some examples.
They forgot the USB webcam feature?!
That's coming in the QPR1 update later this year, it wasn't slated for the initial Android 14 release.
I must have missed that announcement. I hope I can update my old Pixel 4a until then.
That was added in Android 14. Is it not available on the Pixel 8 or something?
Ah, no I think that was skipped. But I think I'm confusing Pixel-exclusive features and Android 14 features.
The phone is going to be around for 7 years. I am sure the last 2 features will come back at some point as they seem to be software limitations and not hardware.
Conspiracy hat on, maybe they were removed on purpose so Google can actually say they are adding meaningful features over a 7 year lifespan 👀
Desktop mode would be great. Maybe the Pixel Ultra will have it. 😬
The Pixel line up lost a lot of respect from me after I purchased the Pixel 6. Absolute shit show from start to finish. Love the software, hate the hardware.
What's my best alternative for next year when I consider upgrading?
If I could have Pixel software on Sony hardware, I'd be golden.
