"Many Gazans have refused to leave their homes for the south, fearing a repeat of the "Nakba" or "catastrophe", when many Palestinians fled or were forced from their homes during the 1948 war that accompanied Israel's creation.
Some 700,000 Palestinians, half the Arab population of what was British-ruled Palestine, were dispossessed and displaced, many spilling into neighbouring Arab states where they or many of their descendants remain. Many still live in refugee camps."

It is really tough for Palestinians now. Not many places are taking them.
They can't even get out for people to take them in. The exits are blocked and the 'safe evacuation route' seems to be a major target for Israeli bombs and missiles. This is so fucked.
Correction: escape routes are targets of Hamas who want to keep the civilian population in place as human shields.
Ah yes, the IDF. The best source to say they did nothing wrong and it's all Hamas doing it. Makes perfect sense.
