Probably a good call since Bungie clearly plagiarized a lot of the art in this game from artist ANTIREAL.

It's not like this game was going to be remarkable anyway.
They don’t really need marketing. They need an enjoyable game. I just don’t think that’s going to happen. Some "Bungie" fans will play it like it’s the greatest thing ever but it will have minimal appeal to general gamers.
It's baffling that they decided to take the Marathon IP and do this with it. If this had been a single player game in the vein of the originals, it would have made sense - they'd capture the attention of people who played it in the 90s and wanted more of that. Who is this supposed to appeal to? I strongly doubt there's much overlap between people who enjoyed those games in the 90s and people who want live service extraction shooters today.
Beyond that, there aren't many people who want extraction shooters, period - much less one that's live service, PvP only, and isn't F2P
This thing is going to end up worse than Concord
What the fuck is Sony doing lately? They are clueless when it comes to live service gaming. Like, Marathon may not be perfect, but isn't that the whole point of doing a limited alpha or whatever?
I think it's the right call.

That was a good read. I learned some new stuff in there. Thank you for sharing!
Maybe. Maybe publishers will finally move on from the Extraction Shooter fad. Its a dead genre, the peak concurrent player count of the top 10 Extraction Shooters (including the Arc Raiders Beta, there are that few lol) on Steam combined is within about 10k players of just Helldivers 2 alone. Purely PvEvP Extraction Shooters equal money loss for publishers.
There's no reason to look at Steam numbers because the biggest extraction shooter isn't on Steam, yet.
