I think I put points into wisdom for her to try to help, it did not.
There is a magic rapier in act 2 that will use a spellcasters ability instead of STR/Dex. Granted there's the minor issue of Shadow heart not normally being able to use rapiers

In the ilithid colony when you rescue Mazuria and you demand a reward.

By that time Shart should have 18 or 20 WIS which would offset the lack of a proficiency bonus. Totally worth it since it's also a +2 weapon, it gives +1 to spell save DC, and it lets you summon a cambion ally once per long rest.
Although if you are that committed to using Shart as a melee attacker it's probably more efficient to just respec into the War domain. I know Trickery is more thematic, but it always feels weak to me. Maybe just because stealth gameplay is so tedious.
EDIT: I forgot that lack of proficiency also means you can't use any of the rapier maneuvers. I don't know if it affects any of the weapon's other features though.
This is the curse of all clerics. In my D&D campaign where I play a cleric I always roll like shit. My other characters are fine. But a cleric can't hit the broad side of a barn.
Not sure if it's just a cleric thing. I played a rogue and could never hit anything, fixed the issue by ditching that character for a barbarian, now my dice rolls actually hit stuff
How she talks about wanting to be a Dark Justicar. I always respec her stats and make her a paladin. Right now she is smashing! with a great ax.
If you respec her as a paladin, she even gets a tag "Paladin of Shar" so you can still use a lot of her religious dialogue options! Paladins don't normally get to choose a patron deity in this game, so it was a pleasant surprise.
I didn't realize that! I had her break her oath because I felt the dark paladin is more in line with Shar.
Why roll to hit? Her purpose is to cast spirit guardians and play tag with enemies.
