Sound Off: How many 10+ year redditors have left the site?
I was just browsing a thread on c/nfl looking for new mods. There were multiple 12+ year Redditors there offering to help.
Got me wondering. There are 14,000 of us in this community. How many of us are ten year plus users who have just had enough?
Edit: I didn't expect this post to be as poignant as it became. There are so many of you... I can't reply to everyone. I'm an 11 year user and have modded something like 150 subs over the years. I'm really sad too, but I'm finding that lemmy has most of the content I'm looking for, just needs more comments.
The API was a big blow, but removing awards on past posts and deleting coin balances is really dumb.
I mean it's a weird hill to die on. I'd rather spend my time vilifying actual villians for their actual villianous actions and beliefs than pick on RBG for wanting to serve to her death as supreme court justices often do.
Her serving to her death, very literally resulted in the heavy bias towards conservative viewpoints on the SC. She was adamant that Hillary Clinton would win and the first woman president would select her replacement. Now that shouldn't have been a hill to die on when so much was at stake.
Dying in office instantaneously undid her entire life's work. The whole country will suffer for generations from her hubris. She could've been a GOAT female american but instead I will literally only remember her for being the person too stubborn to resign when she had the chance, guaranteeing a conservative court for the rest of my life.
And just to be clear, I really don't spend much time on the subject. Besides this comment, I really haven't thought about it much in the last few months. Except for literally every single time I think about the abortion ban of course, which I suppose is frequent.
It's the system we live in and she knew it. If you go swimming in a river known to be full of crocodiles then it's your fault for getting eaten because crocs are gonna croc. She chose to swim every single damn day for YEARS after her expiration date and now all of us have to suffer because republicans are gonna do what they're gonna do. Totally her fault.
See, this is where you are actually pretty nuts. You really fully blame her when the lions share of what happened is not on her shoulders.
And clearly you are wrong about her knowing what would happen. Clearly she had too much confidence in the system, or she would have stepped down. Your take is all kinds of odd honestly.
What's nuts is choosing to die in office instead of stepping down gracefully and ensuring your legacy is not systematically destroyed which is exactly what everyone knew would happen. Obama asked her multiple times to step down and she said no, citing some other judge that served until age 90 after 35 years on the bench. It's nuts to have confidence in the system you've worked in for decades and have seen firsthand is corrupt and partisan as can be. Then it's nuts to call other people nuts for calling HER out for being nuts. Nothing but nuts, all the way down.
It's nuts to place the blame on anyone but those actively advancing the destruction of bodily autonomy. Some dying woman's blunder is not the reason you are getting fucked in the ass. You are getting fucked in the ass because your system allowed it to happen. Count the votes, your stupid electoral college put through Trump, not RBG and not the american people.
Why can't we blame both? She made a horrible decision every single day for years every time she put on those robes and went to the office. Her legacy will suffer for it and she deserves her share of the blame for not doing the right thing. Fuck 'em all.
I was permabanned from /r/politics in a one two punch, first a 24 hour ban after I said someone's comment was 'disagreeable'. An insult far too heavy to bare apparently. And second when a mod decided I had baited someone else in to breaking the rules. I myself broke zero rules, nor did I bait a person into commenting that I was a "jackass" but it all just goes on the pile of "why /r/politics is trash".
