A pretty good Lemmy client for iOS is Memmy.
That being said Christian Selig (the dev of Apollo for Reddit) is working on his Next Big Thing™. Fingers crossed for that being Apollo for Lemmy.
I've been using connect, it was buggy at first but they did multiple updates and I'm growing fond of it. I will probably download and check out sync and boost. But connect has the advantage of being here first and I've spent a whole month getting used to it.
I've been usimg Jerboa since I started with Lemmy but it hasn't fully convinced me yet. What app do you recommend? I am looking to replicate the look and feel of RIF.
I always used RiF and never tried any other third party app because I didn't feel the need to. Coming to lemmy I tried every alternative I found and stayed with Voyager (formerly wefwef). It's a WPA inspired by the defunct Apollo client for reddit and I'm liking it even more than RiF, although it's quite different. Being a WPA streamlines the development and it shows, it reached v1.0 a few days ago. Jerboa was ok when it was the only alternative to plain web interface, but right know is quite behind imo.
I'm in the same exact boat as you friend, used rif for basically a decade. I've been using Jerboa as well, it's alright but I know what you mean, not the same.
I have heard a lot of good things about boost, they're still finishing up their app, you can find it in the app store and pre-register now. I'm hoping that finishes soon and can fill that void, it looks like it can be customized to look kinda similarly to rif.
This could bring a lot of new users based on the name of the app and past popularity. I don’t use the Play store but will this automatically update over the old Reddit app? Too bad Apollo didn’t pull the same thing.
I am one of the user that switched over to Lemmy, just because of Sync. I heart about Lemmy when I opened Sync for Reddit in July, when it wasn't working anymore. But app showed a message, that Sync for Lemmy is comming. So I created an account on Lemmy. Regarding automatic update over old Reddit app I don't think so. I think it has different package name than Sync for Reddit.
A few of the big third party developers on android have started work. Boost, Slide and Infinity are some others.
Who would have thought that pissing off a bunch of really experienced excellent app developers would mean they'd throw their talent into making apps for your competition.
If you liked Apollo give Voyager a try, they made it to look and feel very similar. It's a WPA so it's cross platform and there's no app store involved.
