AC in the server room broke. Told my boss we needed to rent or buy a spot cooler.

A cooler isn't going to do anything.

Or get a $500 ac unit that plugs into the wall and vents into the hall...

A pound of ice is 144 btus to melt, 18,000/144 is 125lbs of ice.
So to be able to do the same cooling as your ac you would need to supply 125lbs of ice an hour. Surprisingly not as bad as I thought.
