Calyx isn't as secure as GrapheneOS
It's a lot easier to install and more secure than not having anything. Good option for people who don't have a lot of skill in this area.

Is the phone still usable as it was before or are there apps/capabilities that won't work after the install?

Bank apps may not work and wallet tends to just be random
