The last major holdouts in the protest against Reddit’s API pricing relented, abandoning the so-called “John Oliver rules” which only allowed posts featuring the TV host. It's the official end of the battle. The Reddit protest is over, and Reddit won.

Why are some here so obsessed with Reddit? I'm not here to constantly read about Reddit! I understand that some of you are seriously upset about what happened and it's okay to vent for some time, but please move on for your own good.

Also, let's be honest: Lemmy is a clone of Reddit.
I came from all with active sorting. To me that indicates that Reddit seems to be a major topic in the fediverse.
It's a good thing that it's more contained now with this community and it's absolutely legit to have those discussions here, but Reddit news still are echoed in most tech communities.
Thanks to this not being Reddit, I can see that over 90 people agree.

I am not, but 13 years of muscle memory makes me almost forget to hop on lemmy after work instead of reddit.
I just deleted all my Reddit history in Chrome, so I will have to type in the whole url to get it to come up now just to stop myself.
