I don't get what the forks for, dip those "chips" straight in
Kippered Herring is ever so slightly tough. Not much, but enough for a fork to be convenient.

and don't let the shape fool you they can barely hold the weight of the chips above them in the stack they have no structural integrity whatever you could lose half a chip scooping up whipped cream if that was your thing
