Wow that was sooooo much fun! And thank you for putting up that list. I feel very proud to be on it. I've never participated on r/place because it was so competitive. But c/canvas was much more friendly and people were helping each other. There were so many different queer and trans projects, I felt really really happy! In the beginning people started all these national flags, which annoyed me a lot, so I mostly did the "no border no nation no gods no masters" bit alone (although with some help by one person). And in the end it felt so great being able to participate and actually have an impact as a single person without any faction (I didn't understand how this worked and couldn't find the chat on mobile). Thanks to all the queer pixel placers, we made this a very special place! ♥♥♥
ETA: I loved that people finished "the no border ..." with "never gonna give you up" so I helped place the "never gonna let you down" lol
Oh and thanks to the "trans rights are human fights" crowd who respectfully extended the trans flag through the "no border..." bit. I watched, helped and felt happy when you were passing through :)
I participated in the original and 2020 r/place and I can say that the canvas was just so much better. The community was really nice and I didn't really notice any griefing on the pixels I was placing.
I really hope someone is able to calculate who placed all the queer pixels so that I can thank them all, it was great working with you all! I really didn't expect anyone to help me with the lesbian flag (I had initially intended for it to just sit with the Linux projects), but it ended up turning into a bit of a project by the end of it. Thanks for helping with the flag :)
The rick roll was amazing, thanks for helping build it lol
I remember watching it and I didn't know if it would disappear or completely take over the neighboring canvas. I like how it turned out.
Also, I could never get the chat feature to work so maybe that can be improved upon if the event were to happen again.
The only annoying thing I found were the penis and tits placed just next to the ace flag and the "ban sex!" slogan. Like, I'm not ace but that was just mean and upsetting. I helped cutting the penis in two and reported the two users who initially made it.
Thanks so much for organizing this!! You are amazing 😍
Haha yes, I saw the tiny lesbian flag sitting there and thought "oh well, the lesbians get hardly any representation like always". As a proud transbian I saw it as necessary to expand on it. I wanted to widen it as well, but in the end it turned out great :)
