Simon Lachner had plans to glue himself to a German city thoroughfare in June to call public attention to climate change. Instead, he ended up in police custody before he'd even left his home.

Oh my god, everyone is retarded. Kids (people my age) are actively trying to be as retarded as possible by destroying property, something that discredits their cause. Police and lawmakers are retarded for absolutely abusing their powers. If I called the shots, kids could only be arrested after committing a crime, first offenders get arrested the 48 hours and get a week of community service, which should be enough to scare them into not being stupid. Repeated offenders can get actual jail time. Mass surveillance sure as hell ain’t ok and banning these organisations would only be ok if these actions DIRECTLY ORGANISED BY THEM are proved several times in court

Just think of how often a democratic coup just fails because “temporary” dictatorial powers are necessary to maintain peace

Direct action against climate change turns violent when the state uses violence to stop it.
Bringing violence to bear against a situation is how states excersize power, because the power of the state IS literally just the ability to deploy violence.
