These people aren't feds. They're typical NATO leftists and I've unfortunately come across this type irl more than I have ever wanted to. Majority of them were either baby leftists still in undergrad or Anarchists. Maybe not as extreme as these people but mention any AES and you'd get an earful about how evil they are.
I'm honestly at the point now whenever I meet someone in the west who calls themselves a socialist or anarchist I just default assume they're a NATO stan who fans free college.

Sure there's a time and place to put on different hats and keep your ideology to yourself when coalition building a popular front, but United fronts generally require you to be up front with what you stand for when talking about what goals you want to collectively work for.
