People figured it out before, they'll do it again. The incentive to do so just needs to be greater than it is now, and that is changing.

It doesn't have to be self hosted piracy

some do and some are willing to learn

of course, some people are stuck in their ways but i think even the most average of laymen can see the enshittification of streaming (esp Netflix)
