when I was reading 1984 a few years back it occurred to to me that the main character is trapped in his own hell. he tells you how he is dependent on big brother for everything, even his opinion. Also comparing comment threads (on YouTube) of the games yesterday, it's amazing how much more derision is stirred when the officials seem to have bias (chiefs ravens), compared to when the game is called with restraint (49ers lions). The niners lions comments were downright civil, while Ravens and Chiefs were openly hostile.
