Mine told me that I should be a plumber. I took it after graduating college with a degree in Data Science. I kind of wish I did the plumbing thing considering the money they rake in. Problem is that I don’t like crawling in attics and under houses.
I was told to be a garbage man. Who the fuck made these tests? My guidance counselor for years told me not to go to college.
I'm a software engineer now, and while I believe garbage men deserve better pay and benefits and recognition as essential skilled workers, who the fuck tells that to a kid? That they should give up on college and work a labor job for their entire life?

So, you followed his advice I see :D (I'm joking, of course)
This whole thing about determining your best job or whatever always seemed very weird to me (we don't do that much here in France). I mean, I did not know what I would do after getting a Ph.D., how the heck is a stranger supposed to know like fifteen years before that.
Hell as a teen I fucking hated those tests because I didn't even know what I wanted to study, and everything I started just felt either so daunting or not worth my time. It straight up advised me to be an accountant and I got depressed thinking that's what my life would be.
Nowadays I'm in IT, and sure, a bit on the full side, but I actually get it, makes good money, and on the side I paint for fun. Not the worst life, and certantly better than being a goddamn accountant.
I just did a career test as i got curious, it said i'm social even after i explicity answered 12 different questions to imply i'm quite the opposite.
They told me to work in a kitchen, i hate kitchen and i have eating issues. They said i should be a amanuensis, fam i can't even process a sentence the moment a needle drops in the middle of one.
If it was up to me i would just sit at my computer and eat chocolate while playing video games until i die.
I tried learning to code but i can't remember what i did an hour ago even if i do it over and over multiple times in a row, multiple days or even weeks after eachother.
I'm not cut out to be a functional member of todays society.
We had those types of tests but as to what type of secondary school you would fit in. I of course did not take that test, because I already had a plan.
And those who did, ignored it anyway. Not sure what is worse. These job tests, or what people use as a reason for their decision, or the lack of one.
Studying computer network technics, two in my class were actually interested in computers. The rest: ,,Well, I play videogames, so I figured I could do well here."
-their answer to the question of why they picked that study
