I don't know why I bothered to keep staying there for so long, probably cause of the games and sports I've been following but what did it for me was a shitty self-depreciating meme about fictional women not wanting them irl.
I basically disagreed and said I felt confident enough that wouldn't be the case and then got accused of not understanding the joke (nigga said skill issue? How terminally online do you have to be 💀), obviously I did I just thought it was corny cause I don't do self-depreciating humor.
Sorry not sorry I have too much self respect for that lol 🤷🏿♂️
There's not really much point to that, except for I guess the ritual of deleting everything. They almost definitely keep all the 'deleted' data on their servers, and so do archive websites and dedicated reddit archives like reveddit.
I was going to ask, What's the rationale for deleting posts? Opsec, maybe? I can see why some people would want to hide old posts from general public consumption even if the server-owners still have the text somewhere.
yeah it seemed pretty pointless as i went through deleting stuff (anything containing key words related to geopolitics, like capitalism, etc. at least - i never talked too much about that stuff on reddit so others may find doing even this to be time consuming). rather, i edited them and replaced them with 1s and then deleted them. but it gave me more peace of mind and at the least perhaps made it a bit tougher for background check companies if their data gathering and capabilities advance to being able to piece stuff like that together.
If I recall there is an extension for Firefox (could be wrong) that mass delete comments/posts for reddit but I hadn't used it on this account, I probably will later I just felt so annoyed I was just liked fuck this
Just went ahead and deleted my profile after searching for key words and deleting specific posts. Decided not to use an extension since it looked a bit dodgy. All manual and it took an hour, but I'm finally reddit free. Thanks for the encouragement.
