edit: narcissism is a mental illness, i'm sorry if i offended anyone. when i made the comment i thought i could use it as a way of saying he's self-obsessed, and knowing very little about mental illnesses i didnt even know NPD was a thing. if the term self-obsessed is also bad, please give me ideas for what i should change the word into

He's not a narcissist, and you shouldn't be insulting people by calling them that. Narcissists are disabled people and Elon Musk is an asshole. Those are not the same thing.

Elon Musk isn't a narcissist. People with NPD are disabled victims of child abuse who are unfairly hated by bigots. Elon Musk is a bigoted asshole who has lived a life of tremendous privilege. As you can see, these two things are opposites.

Narcissism has been used to refer to very toxic personality traits since forever, and you can use the word to describe an asshole who is a narcissist. A patient with NPD is someone who accepts that those traits are negative and is trying to outgrow them, which is definitely not all narcissistic people.
