The fact that half of Americans don’t know whether Israelis or Palestinians are suffering more deaths in Gaza is the result of the appalling “Palestinian child walks into bullet”-…
This is an indictment of the antiwar movement as much as it is of American media. We need to be educating Americans somehow, because if every American knew what was really happening the number opposed to the war could only increase. The mainstream media won't do it, it has to be us.
If there's any question about how one-sided this war has been, there's a Wikipedia page keeping track of the casualties. They currently list 30,228 Palestinian deaths compared to 1,410 Israeli deaths beginning with the October 7th attack, with estimates that between 61-90% of these are innocent civilians.
Those numbers are from the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health. Regardless of whether they're true or not, Israel supporters won't believe those numbers.
So basically no different than Russian citizens not believing that they were the ones invading Ukraine without cause, or that their own soldiers were the ones raping and torturing innocent civilians even when the news was coming from their own family members. It must really suck to live in that level of self-delusion.
Not that I doubt this, but perhaps use a better source next time. MBFC:
Overall, we rate CaitlinJohnstone.com as a left-biased conspiracy website based on the promotion of unproven and one-sided speculative claims that are not always supported by evidence.
It’s a war that’s been going on twice as long as I’ve been alive, on a continent I’ve never been to, on the other side of the planet. I’m not, nor will ever be capable of understanding.
I’m not sure I’d want to, to what end? I missed a day of work this week. Overslept through an alarm. What is required out of me as a dumb American – that’s barely treading water as is?
