Marking Read

My apologies if this has been brought up before. I have sync set to mark as read when I scroll through the feed. It doesn't appear to work. Can someone ELI5 what I might be doing wrong?

Running the latest version on Google Play Store.

The only way I know to make it work on any app is to go into your Lemmy account settings and uncheck the show read posts option and save.
