Google announced the Pixel Tablet almost a year ago to the date, only to then release it in June at a starting price of $499. That starting price included Google’s weird docking station for the tablet, a docking station severely lacking in features and that most of us would have skipped if...
The dock is the thing that makes it worth even considering. What they needed to do was improve the speaker and lower the price given they're charging premium prices for mid-range specs.
Smells like another test that'll end in a year or so leaving the Tablet to rot.
I still have one actively used Nexus 7 in my house. Used as a weather station display on our countertop.
Probably wouldn't buy another Google tablet until it was well established a generation or two in. Certainly know better than to early adopt anything they put out.
I think I'm going to skip this generation for Tablet 2, whenever that is. I'm hoping for the addition of Desktop Mode and hardware memory tagging support / MTE to make the tablet easier to replace/act as a desktop and be even more secure.
