While this doesn't surprise me, I can't help but wonder how many other parallel situations there are where an industry of many separate entities distort, hide and otherwise lie to the public to maintain the publicly harmful gravy train.
- The other well known example would be suppressing climate change research, but I'm sure there are lots of others we don't know about. The fundamental problem is that capitalist relations directly encourage these sorts of behaviors. Capitalism is directly at odds with the needs of humanity.
